It seems everything is electronic: e-mail, e-trade, e-commerce, and e-tickets. All of those are good and make our lives a heck of a lot easier. And then there is E-Manage, the new engine-management system from GReddy. That’s one you probably haven’t heard too much about yet, which is a damn shame, and we’ll tell you why. E-Manage has been available in Japan for quite some time, but the U.S. Version wasn’t available until just before the ’01 SEMA Show. Actually, we’re lying.

E-Manage has been available in the States since summer 2001, there just wasn’t an English version of the Support Tool software available—which pretty much rendered this fuel-management unit useless to those who couldn’t read pig latin, Hiragana, or Katakana. Until now, that is. Working as a piggyback fuel-management system allows E-Manage to be virtually universal. That means E-Manage can be used on four-cylinder motors, six-cylinder motors, rotaries, Hondas, Nissans—well, you get the point.

Jun 29, 2005 - I am trying to find the serial number to reinstall my support tool on my new laptop, but I cannot find it. I checked in my box for the support tool.

The only requirement to get the unit up and running is splicing the provided harness into the factory harness to the ECU. There are five dials on the front of the unit for altering airflow signal.

This allows changes to the signal given by the airflow meter (or map sensor) at five different rpm points, which is good for people who aren’t equipped with the Windows-based Support Tool software. But these dials don’t allow you deep into the fuel and timing maps; that’s what E-Manage does. With the Support Tool software and optional injector and ignition harnesses, who knows how deep you can get? With a quick install of the Support Tool software on a laptop and a USB-to-COM serial cable, the user is ready to tap into the realms of fuel management. Tuners who have seen the 16x16 fuel and ignition maps before on stand-alone units will probably be wondering why all these boxes show up as “0” on E-Manage. As far as the piggyback system works, a “0” in any box means that it is at the factory ECU setting.

Any positive value means it is added to the factory ECU map, and any negative number means it is taken away from the factory ECU settings. E-Manage also has a self-calibration for changes of injector sizing.

When you input the original and new sizes, E-Manage automatically adjusts the fuel delivery to accommodate for the new injectors. The optional Manifold Absolute Pressure port leads us to believe that GReddy is working on a program to replace the airflow meter and work off speed velocity. For cars with a boost-cut limiter, E-Manage can override the fuel-cut signal from the ECU and allow higher boost to be obtained.

Honda owners, don’t worry that GReddy forgot about you; there is also a built-in VTEC controller as well. An onboard data logger allows the user to view, record, and play back the engine vital statistics in real time; very important when it comes to tuning. The user can set the stats he wants to view, such as rpm, injector duty cycle, airflow-meter signal, or pretty much anything else he can think of. One function that can come in really handy for those secretive tuners is the security lock.

E-Manage can be locked, via password, from tuners with wandering eyes (and fingers). Barry harris jazz workshop pdf download Currently, GReddy is working on adapter harnesses to make the install of the unit even easier.
